Kenton Eco Estate’s Commitment to Eco-Living Excellence
In line with our ethos of Honest to Goodness Living, we are proud to introduce a groundbreaking project aimed at keeping our beaches pristine. Recognising the importance of environmental stewardship, we have implemented a system of lightweight receptacles at our main boardwalks. These receptacles provide residents with a convenient way to pick up rubbish during their beach visits, promoting a clean and sustainable coastline.
But we didn’t stop there. In our effort to minimise waste and support our local community, we commissioned Jo Styles of THE MARKET TRADERS STORE in Port Alfred. They are a collective of passionate crafters dedicated to sustainable living. Through this collective effort, old clothes donated by the public and various charity stores are upcycled into various crafts and products, reducing landfill waste and uplifting local communities.
The centrepiece of this initiative is the creation of beach cleanup bags made from outsized denims, denim off-cuts, and upcycled woven netting/shade cloth for the base. These robust bags not only serve as a practical solution for waste collection but also contribute to the preservation of our environment.
