As 2024 draws to a close, we pause to reflect on a year of remarkable progress, eco-conscious innovation, and community spirit at Kenton Eco Estate. This year has been particularly significant as we celebrated 20 years since the inception of the estate – a vision that has blossomed into one of the most stunning, secure, and eco-friendly residential havens in South Africa. With only 12% of the estate designated for development, our commitment to preserving the natural coastal environment has never been stronger.
Enhanced Architectural Guidelines: A Blueprint for Sustainability
In 2024, we proudly introduced updated architectural guidelines to strengthen our alignment with the eco-conscious values of KEE. These guidelines encourage the use of sustainable materials, energy-efficient designs, and architectural styles that harmonise seamlessly with the environment. By setting these standards, Kenton Eco Estate continues to lead the way in eco-friendly living.
The positive impact of these changes has been immediate.
As Mike Wilmot from Pam Golding Properties noted:
“It’s unbelievable how things have changed at KEE. Everybody is talking about it in such a positive way, and we are getting more enquiries.”
This growing interest highlights the estate’s reputation as a beacon of sustainability and architectural harmony, further solidifying its value proposition for homeowners seeking both luxury and environmental responsibility.
Natural Beauty and Architectural Harmony
At KEE, nature and design coexist in perfect balance. The estate’s unique blend of pristine coastal forests, secure private beaches, and carefully designed homes has earned it high praise. Residents and visitors alike appreciate the effort to preserve the untouched beauty of the area while offering a luxurious coastal lifestyle.
As Verona Veltman shared:
“Such a beautiful estate with fabulous coastal forest boardwalks and a secure, almost private beach. Paradise on the beach.”
Our boardwalks, which meander through the untouched vegetation, provide residents with serene pathways to enjoy the beauty of nature while ensuring the ecosystem remains undisturbed.
This year we continued our beautification of the Estate by planting aloes around each road sign to make them Zebra-proof and adding stones at their base.
A Community in Action: Leave Only Footprints
This year, our Leave Only Footprints initiative took centre stage. Partnering with Bushwillow School, we hosted a beach clean-up for World Clean-Up Day on September 20. The students used upcycled denim beach clean-up bags, creatively crafted by Jo Styles from The Market Trading Store. These practical and stylish bags showcased the power of innovation in tackling waste management issues.
As Marco Taljaard remarked:
“I love your beach cleaning initiative; it’s so cool. I want my kids to get involved!”
This project represents the heart of our community spirit-bringing people together for a shared commitment to protecting the environment.
Growth and Construction: Building for the Future
The year saw steady growth in property sales, with three homes nearing completion and plans for ten more approved. Of these, five are set to break ground in 2025. This increase in construction reflects the growing appeal of KEE as a secure and serene coastal haven for families seeking a better quality of life.
To accommodate this expansion, we have proposed the construction of a dedicated guardhouse at the contractor’s gate. This will ensure smooth operations and heightened security as activity in the estate continues to grow.
Acknowledging Dedication: Trustees and Team
The continued success of Kenton Eco Estate is a testament to the dedication of our Trustees, who work tirelessly to maintain and improve the estate. Their expertise, time, and effort ensure the smooth running of operations, and their contributions are deeply appreciated.
A special mention goes to Ansie Van der Walt for her incredible work re-landscaping the gatehouse gardens. Thanks to her efforts, the entrance to KEE now reflects the estate’s natural beauty.
Our on-the-ground team has also gone above and beyond in maintaining the estate’s infrastructure and environment. This year, we introduced a provident fund to secure their futures – a well-deserved acknowledgment of their loyalty and dedication. Notably, Bongani, who has been with KEE since its inception in 2004, continues to exemplify the spirit of our community.
Season’s Greetings from Kenton Eco Estate
